Fast-track Gas Course
An in-depth course designed for experienced gas engineers whose qualifications have lapsed to meet the core ACS assessment requirements.
First class technical training facilities where trainees can develop their installation and/or maintenance skills and knowledge in realistic domestic property simulations.
A full range of current and latest design of gas and electrical appliances, systems, controls and equipment.
Training and assessment to national standards - our centre is approved by BPEC, CITB, APHC and City and Guilds/Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) to offer a range of gas installation and maintenance NVQ/SNVQ qualifications.
A network of approved assessors who ensure trainees demonstrate competence throughout the required range of assessment criteria demanded by Awarding Bodies.
Course objectives/key benefits
On completion delegates will be able to demonstrate their safety awareness and competency in the contents of the course listed below in natural gas.
Delegates will also be eligible to undertake the ACS assessments following this course
PLEASE NOTE: This course can also be undertaken by anyone wishing to work solely with LPG.
Who is the course aimed at?
Specifically designed for those have previous held ACS qualifications which are no longer current, but anyone with limited previous training and new entrants to gas (category 2) who hold NVQ level 3 in plumbing (or an accepted equivalent qualification).
In order to undertake the course candidates will need to provide evidence of previous ACS assessments and/or CORGI or GAS SAFE registration (which are no longer current). Anyone wishing to undertake this course who cannot provide proof of previous registration will need to undertake the MPL Gas course.

- Meters (both low pressure and medium pressure)
- Gas pressures and flow
- Domestic pipework installation
- Tightness testing
- Pipework sizing
- Installation of domestic gas appliances
- Commissioning domestic gas appliances
- Servicing domestic gas appliances
- Carrying out safety checks of domestic gas appliances
Practical workshop and theory.
Please note: Some of this course can be carried out 'on-site'.
Practical assessments and written question papers
Candidates who successfully complete the associated assessments will be recommended for assessment under ACS.
